As part of the commemoration for the 16 Days of Gender Activism, the ZCCP has planned to conduct Zambia Centre for Communication Programmes, as a partner in the commemoration of the United Nation Declared 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence which runs from 25th November to 10 December every year, since 1991 will participate in the commemoration. ZCCP will hold the 5000km Anti-GBV Touch Lighting and Travel Conference which will consist of a range of activism activities around the country with Traditional leaders as a way of building momentum against GBV. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Campaign, is a time to galvanize action to end GBV around the world. The international campaign originated from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women's Global Leadership in 1991. The commemoration theme for 2016 is ‘Orange the World: Raise Money to End Violence against Women and Girls’. This theme strongly emphasizes the need for sustainable financing from governments and key stakeholders for efforts to end GBV in Zambia and the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
 
ZCCP through the 5000km GBV Activism Torch Lighting Traveling Conference will be able to reach out to men, women, boys and girls and chiefs as influential leaders in different districts with high GBV incidents. The 5000km GBV Activism Torch Lighting Traveling Conference will seek to carry out GBV prevention activism with Chiefs as influential change agents who will be the Torch bearers through sensitizations such as road shows and creative dramas, mobile video shows, districts exhibits of GBV information and services at chiefdom level as well as mini- conferences with specific targets groups to engage and discuss how GBV can be prevented in line with the theme. These platforms will reach out with specific information and messaging aimed at preventing GBV, CM and HIV.
The 5000km GBV Activism Torch Lighting Traveling Conference is twofold opportunity for ZCCP to disseminate GBV prevention information in Zambia. It is also an opportunity of involving influential agents such as traditional leaders, government representatives, men and women, girls and boys in the different districts to symbolically to light up the torch in raising activism against GBV and at the same time create awareness in the country using Chiefs who are the custodian of culture and tradition as Change agents.
 
The 5000km Anti-GBV Touch Lighting and Travel Conference Against GBV will initially be launched in Chipata by Chief Madzimawe where her will symbolically light up the torch to signify his commitment against GBV in his chiefdom, this then will be passed on to other chiefdoms and districts until its final destination in Chinsali Muchinga Province on 10th December 2016.
